It was a calm night in Ponyville. Twilight was reading a book in the central room of the Golden Oak Library, the only library of Ponyville and her home.
Its cover was a light and desaturated blue. The title was Simple, but genial objects. The book described the invention and/or evolution of many objects we have today, that are considered very simple, but were actually genius ideas.
Then, a knock on the door was heard. Twilight sighed, and closed the book, putting the bookmarker on the page she was reading. She had barely opened the door enough to see outside, and a pink mess called Pinkie Pie exploded inside.
-Aaahh!- Twilight yelped.
-Hi!-Pinkie said.
-Pinkie, don't scare me like this!- Twilight got out of under Pinkie. -What are you doing here at this time?
-Oh, I just couldn't sleep tonight and then I thought "hey, I'll visit Twilight cause she must have a book about sleeping"! And then I came here and saw you had a book already and now I wanna read it with you!- Pinkie said in her fast-talking mode.
-...Okay.- Twilight said after a second. The two sat down and got to reading the book. The pages where it was open was about lava lamps. One page had text explaining the lamps, and the other had an illustration with some information.

The fluid of the lava lamps is created with a Glowing Fluid Creation spell. The spell turns the material you choose into a glowing fluid and puts it into the nearest empty lava lamp. It also works with ponies, but the target pony's mane and tail need to have only one color, because the mane and tail change into the fluid. Otherwise, the pony's mane colors would mix and, after they got out of the lamp, their hair color would be a mix of the original colors.
The pony keeps living and breathing, floating inside the lamp. It works the same way for dolls. The pony can be changed back with a Transformation spell, or simply by breaking the lamp. The Glowing Fluid Creation spell is described below.

Pinkie suddenly stood up.
-Do me, Twilight! Domedomedome!- She said, bouncing quickly. -Pleeease!
-But we don't have any empty lava lamps!- Twilight replied.
-I do!- Pinkie got an empty lava lamp out of her mane and gave it to Twilight. She didn't ask how Pinkie did it.
-Okay then,- she said - but I never did this before, so anything can go wrong.- She put the lamp down as Pinkie nodded. Her horn started glowing, Pinkie closed her eyes, and a flash filled the room.
Twilight blinked quickly, dizzy. Then she looked at the floor. There it was. A Pinkie lamp. Pinkie was small, floating inside the lava lamp, still showing a big smile.
Her hair had turned into a pink glowing fluid, going up and down inside the lamp. Twilight looked at her, proud of herself. She put the Pinkie lamp to her side, and they kept reading the book, but Twilight turned off the lights.
